Saw a thread on tman a couple weeks ago for pickled fish and it sounded good so I gave it a try. I’m not much of a fisherman so I used the vacuum sealed tilapia from Kroger. I used 2 lb of fish and two big onions. I’m thinking it could be a good side dish at the next utk event 😀
Yep raw fish in a jar with salt and the lid screwed on would not be something I’d eat. Always thought I’d like to try that salmon you see the Indians hanging to dry in the old westerns. Always wanted to try Buffalo tongue too. Steve, let us know how the fish turn out.

The pickled fish and onions were great. Use filets and keep the mixture of salt and vinegar in the frig for five days. The fish gets real firm and not slimmey at all. There no fishy smell. After five days put the fish and onions in a vinegar and sugar mixture for 3 days then enjoy!
