Well, freezers been empty for a minute. Year before last I had six months of Honor Guard taking my deer hunting from me and this past year what little free time I had with the baby, I chose trapping instead of filling the freezer like a goof. Meat prices sky rocketed so I am bound and determined to get the meat. Unfortunately, got news this deer season is gonna get messed up, so I was thinking about driving down to the home state and trying out for an out-of-zone elk. With many of you all knowing them better than I ever will, is it worth it? I can’t really sacrifice the time chasing a unicorn this year.
I think it’d be tough to luck up on one out of zone without living here and being able to scout and hear word of mouth that someone saw one somewhere regularly. I think most of the border counties hunters know where they might be. There’s a lot of elk but they have a huge rough area to roam.
